Though lacking the opulence one would expect of a Chanel spectacle, the night was nevertheless magical to the roughly 300 guests that sat on the sands of the Excelsior Hotel. Karl deftly mixes (as only he can) Chanel's signature looks with an early 20th century Venetian beach scene and a small dose of sailor stripes mixed in. Shown not too far from the Cannes Film Festival, the Chanel show was still the place for anyone who's anyone to be seen.
